Trainee opportunities offer a place for connecting and learning

CHEST prioritizes the education, learning, and career development of trainees year-round and during the annual meeting with programming designed to enhance their experience.

At CHEST 2020, trainees can learn about the latest research as well as practical tips on how research translates to clinical management, but that’s not all, said Subani Chandra, MD, FCCP, Training and Transitions Committee Member. The meeting provides a great way for trainees to interact and learn from leaders in the field, network with trainees and faculty from other programs all over the world, and learn how to become more involved in CHEST.

“I have found so many friends and colleagues through CHEST,” Dr. Chandra said. “I have collaborated with many on research projects and scholarly work. And I have also found some of my closest friends as well as true mentors. I look forward to the CHEST Annual Meeting every year—it packs learning, networking, and fun all in one package!”

A scientific meeting can be overwhelming—with hundreds of topics and sessions to choose from—and difficult to navigate if you’re a first-time attendee or a fellow.

The Trainee Lounge acts as home base where trainees can seek advice, wade through what to attend, and relax with their peers while connecting with other faculty and young professionals. Although the lounge is virtual this year, it still offers a place dedicated to trainees and information tailored to them. The lounge will provide panel discussions, a trainee roadmap poster, and a Trainee Track PDF of what to attend during the virtual meeting.

Of course, don’t miss the popular CHEST Challenge Championship event on Tuesday, October 20.

“At CHEST, we love our trainees! You are the present and the future, and every day the future gets bigger, better, brighter!” Dr. Chandra said.
