Invaluable educational, networking opportunities for trainees at CHEST 2021

The CHEST 2021 program offers a variety of opportunities for trainees just beginning their careers. Covering the latest research and clinical advances from leaders in the field, the meeting also provides a platform for trainees to engage with friends and colleagues, explore common areas of interest, get career development tips, and play educational games.

“Every year, the CHEST Annual Meeting program is put together by a group of physicians dedicated to providing the best possible experience for CHEST trainees,” said Mauricio Danckers, MD, FCCP, Chair of the Training and Transitions Committee. “We want trainees to find in CHEST a platform to experience lifelong learning in education, as well as meaningful networking in a very organic and welcoming space.”

Building on last year’s success, CHEST 2021 will once again offer an online Trainee Lounge, a place where fellows and trainees can find meeting information, networking opportunities, and educational programs tailored specifically for them.

“The activities and the curriculum in the Trainee Lounge are developed by fellows for fellows,” Dr. Danckers said. “It’s a place where trainees can interact in a nonformal environment and discuss topics that are not commonly discussed during their training, including financial planning, CV preparation, and job searching.”

The always-popular CHEST Challenge Championship is also back again this year in a virtual format. Fellows competed in preliminary rounds earlier this year, and now it is time for the players from the top three teams to go head-to-head in a virtual Jeopardy!-style game. This year’s CHEST Challenge championship event competitors are from Interfaith Medical Center, SUNY Buffalo, and The Ohio State University.

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the CHEST Challenge, and we have planned quite a few fun things this year to recognize and celebrate this big milestone, including the 20 days of giveaways in social media leading up to this year’s event and amazing surprises during the live event that will bring back the joy of 20 years of the CHEST Challenge,” Dr. Danckers said.
