CHEST 2024 offers a variety of daily opportunities for attendees to hone their clinical skills in crucial areas of chest medicine—and have fun along the way.
Entertaining educational games and other immersive experiences at CHEST 2024 will be centered in the Exhibit Hall, which opens at 10 am ET daily, Monday through Wednesday, October 7 through 9. Bite-sized games, dynamic simulations, and other interactive activities will test attendees’ medical knowledge and skills via the CHEST Player Hub, powered by The Training Arcade®.
This year, attendees can test their knowledge and problem-solving skills in “Breathless Bounty,” a narrative-driven escape room in which participants can learn about critical elements of asthma. Fans of memory match games can test their brainpower by connecting case descriptions to symptoms, radiology, CT scan images, and treatments in a challenging game of “PulmMemory” or prove their ICU skills with “ALARMED! A Ventilator Game,” where time is short and questions get harder as you go.
For some high-tech challenges, the simulation-based game, “Raise Your Speed! Stop the Airway Bleed,” will present a high-stakes scenario requiring quick thinking, bronchoscopic skill, and effective communication. Additionally, attendees can don virtual reality headsets for a demonstration of some of CHEST’s most immersive educational experiences, including a communication training module based on the First 5 Minutes® initiative, designed to help clinicians build the skills necessary for improved patient interactions.
Zombies will also be invading the live game floor in the new large-group game, “Zombie Dx.” To save themselves from the advancing horde, participants must rely on their medical knowledge to correctly diagnose various radiographs, physical exam signs, and pathology images held by the zombies. But beware—whenever a zombie reaches the crowd, observers are added to their number.
Other highlights will include an updated lineup of live games that will be sprinkled throughout the meeting during session breaks. Attendees can hop into a competitive game of “PEER Pressure,” seek out correct answers in “Hocus POCUS Diagnosis,” or challenge friends to the fastest times in “Aspirated.”
Even more bite-sized experiences—five- to 10-minute games that are perfect for quick on-the-go play—will be available from the CHEST Player Hub via touch screens at the CHEST booth. Daily prizes will be awarded to those who climb the leaderboard, so be sure to stop by the CHEST booth to explore all the interactive and educational game experiences that CHEST 2024 has to offer.
