CHEST 2018 Learning Formats

The CHEST 2018 program will deliver current pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine topics presented by world-renowned faculty in a variety of innovative instruction formats. Choose from hands-on simulation, interactive case-based presentations, small-group discussions, and more.

New this year:

Deeper Dive Sessions

The new Deeper Dives sessions will allow attendees (and faculty) of very popular topics to gather together and continue the conversation around practical application and relevant cases. Attendees will be encouraged to bring difficult cases with them to gather input and feedback from their peers and faculty.

Peer-Teaching Sessions

Test your knowledge by engaging with peers in the chest medicine field to find the correct answer to questions posed throughout the session.

Bite-Sized Teaching

This year, optimize your time by attending the new bite-sized teaching sessions for eight-10-minute singular topic-focused discussions. With bite-sized teaching, there’s no need to spend time on topics that don’t pertain to your specialties or areas of interest.

CHEST 2018 also will offer more than 400 general sessions, including simulation and interactive learning opportunities. Work with expert faculty to sharpen your skills and apply your knowledge in a clinical setting. Attendees also can experience:

Postgraduate Courses

Begin CHEST with a postgraduate course to offer an intensive learning experience. Attendees can select from full- and half-day course tracks that will take place on Saturday.

Problem-Based Learning Sessions

Study and discuss real clinical cases during small group, interactive sessions designed to exercise your critical thinking skills.

Keynotes and Honor Lectures

Attend our opening sessions to hear the impactful words of CHEST’s keynote speakers, who will give a new perspective on the importance of team-based care across all fields. Additionally, be sure to attend honor and memorial lectures where chest medicine professionals will be recognized for their distinguished work.

Poster Grand Rounds

Review interesting, relevant, and unique patient case reports from physicians-in-training, as well as from medical professionals from areas outside of the United States at the Grand Poster Rounds throughout CHEST 2018.

Leadership and Educator Development Sessions

Advance your CHEST leadership opportunities by attending a leadership or educator development track focused on improving the skill sets of active and aspiring clinical teachers in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
