With so many topics falling under pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, CHEST has made it possible for members to connect with others interested in the same areas through its NetWorks. Join a NetWork for the chance to help plan educational sessions; network with experts in the field; take on leadership roles; and participate in the development of policies, opinions, and position statements.
Angel Coz Yataco, MD, FCCP, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Council of NetWorks, joined his first NetWork in 2009 as a fellow. A few years later, after completing his fellowship, he applied to be on the Clinical Pulmonary Medicine NetWork Steering Committee.
“Joining the steering committee provided me with so many opportunities,” he said. “I got to know thought leaders in my area of interest. I was also able to start writing sessions for the annual meeting. As an educator, this was so important to my career development.”
In addition to providing networking and leadership opportunities throughout the year, the NetWorks participate in the CHEST annual meeting in a number of ways. Dr. Coz Yataco explained the 2021 offerings, which will be available on-demand through the online meeting platform.

“The NetWork Highlights are sessions from the CHEST 2021 educational program chosen by the steering committees based on relevance to the NetWork, how popular the steering committee thinks they are going to be based on parallel events (new trials, volume of cases, etc.), and diversity of the panelists.”
NetWork Bites
“NetWork Bite presentations summarize a topic in a very succinct fashion and provide take-home points, often in 15 minutes or less.”
NetWorks Featured Lectures and Open Forums
“The speakers for the NetWorks Featured Lectures are typically very well-known experts in the field. During the business part of the session, the NetWorks discuss priorities and projects for the upcoming year.”
