October 6-9, 2024

Expand your network and have fun during special events

The annual meeting will not only be jam-packed with the educational offerings you look forward to every year, it’ll also be full of special events and opportunities to help you expand your network, make new friends, and have some fun. Ensure you add the following extracurriculars to your agenda to enjoy during the meeting.

Opening Reception at the Wildhorse Saloon

Kick off your CHEST 2022 meeting experience with a step kick, a swivel, and a stomp at the CHEST All Attendee Opening Reception at Nashville’s famous Wildhorse Saloon on Sunday, October 16, from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM CT. Attendees can learn line dancing steps on the largest dance floor in the downtown area while enjoying local favorites like Nashville hot chicken and a selection of entrees and desserts featuring a Jack Daniel’s single barrel whiskey glaze in honor of the host location’s history of whiskey distilling.

Networks Mixer

Are you a member of a CHEST Network, or want to learn more about these special interest groups? Attend the Networks Mixer on the second floor of the Wildhorse during the Opening Reception to meet CHEST leaders and learn more about each Section’s unique contributions to pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

CHEST Foundation Champions Reception

The 2022 recipients of CHEST Foundation grants will be honored in a special celebration on Tuesday, October 18, at 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM CT. Foundation grants fund essential scientific research and community service projects. Read more about this year’s grant recipients and the impact grants have had over the years. Plus, join us before the event at 4:00 PM to hear from George Alba, MD, Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program grant recipient, about his path to medicine and his commitment to future clinicians.

Button Stations

Wear buttons identifying your professional and personal interests to help spark up conversations with like-minded people at the meeting. This easy, visual way to present yourself will make it easier to connect with new friends and colleagues and to promote the issues that matter most to you.

Trainee Lounge

Trainees and early career professionals, take this opportunity to connect with colleagues at the same stage in their career. Fellows can meet peers, CHEST leaders, and potential mentors in the Trainee Lounge in Room 202 throughout the meeting. Plus, there will be a variety of pertinent sessions and resources exclusively for fellows and early career clinicians. Check out the Trainee Track webpage for details.

Network Sessions

CHEST 2022 also will offer networking activities specifically for people on the same career path. Our Networks will hold Network Sessions from 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM on Tuesday, October 18. Open to everyone, the Network Sessions give you an opportunity to learn more about the Networks; listen to featured lectures/panel discussions; meet with Section leaders; and hear about articles, projects, and CHEST submissions that are seeking collaborators. Consider joining a CHEST Network so you can contribute to future projects.

Women & Pulmonary Luncheon

At the Women & Pulmonary Luncheon on Monday, October 17, at 12:00 pm, featured guest speaker Janet Bickel, a career and leadership development coach, will provide insight and tips on how to advance in your career through her presentation, “You Are the CEO of Your Own Career.”
